Sharp Solar Modules

Sharp solar Panels are fabricated with less than 1 percent of the silicon employed for crystalline solar modules, providing simpler manufacturing and lower product prices. To optimize transition of different pieces of the solar spectrum, thinly cut films can be placed on top of each other to produce a more effective multi-junction product.

Sharp solar modules constructed using the 2nd-generation tandem-junction thin-film solar cells boast a 9% module transition efficiency and high 128W power yield. It's these modules that will comprise the initial offering from Sharp in 2009.

Thin film assures lower installation costs per megawatt and additional megawatt-hours per installed megawatt than crystalline for the end-user, especially in warm climates. It's also a best choice for installations where there's sufficient land for the system.
